And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
