Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And in their property was a portion due to him who begs and to him who is denied (good). 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
