A crowd of earlier generations 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury), 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 and shall drink boiling water on top of that. 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). 65 Verily we are undone. 66 "In fact, we were unfortunate!" 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle? 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Therefore, O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him, proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
