The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
