The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
