And when your Lord called to Moses, saying: 'Go to the harmdoing nation, 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 He answered: "O my Sustainer! Behold, I fear that they will give me the lie, 12 and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron. 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds: 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? 18 "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" 19 [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray. 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord bestowed on me wisdom and made me one of the sent ones. 21 And this is the favour with which you taunt me -- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 Said [Pharaoh]: "Indeed, if thou choose to worship any deity other than me, I shall most certainly throw thee into prison! 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
