Noah (Nooh)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Bee (Al-nahl) before Abraham (Ibrahim)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 And I told them: 'Ask your Lord to forgive you. He is verily forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 And He will add unto you riches and children and will appoint unto you gardens and will appoint unto you rivers. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 He has created you by stages! 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 God has spread out the earth 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
