Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 And I told them: 'Ask your Lord to forgive you. He is verily forgiving. 10 and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
