Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
