I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Of evil-doers: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
