The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Alif-Laam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah - 2 Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, 3 Who believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed to those before you, and are certain of the Hereafter. 4 These are on guidance from their Lord, and these they are the blissful ones. 5 As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe. 6 Allah has sealed their hearts and their ears, and on their eyes is a covering; and for them is a terrible punishment. 7
