The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
