A multitude of those of old 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And fill (your) bellies with it; 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have you seen that which you emit? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 If We willed, surely We would make it chaff, so that ye would be left wondering. 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Therefore proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
