Nay, and by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 it is a warning to man, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 who will be in Paradise 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until death approached us". 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
