The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
