By the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning for people -- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
