The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the close of night, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
