The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
