The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 unto a mighty day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
