The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
