Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
