۞ He it is who created you from a single soul, and He created therefrom his spouse that he might find repose in her. Then when he covereth her she beareth a light burthen and fareth about therewith; then when she groweth heavy the twain call upon Allah their Lord: if Thou vouchsafest us a goodly child, we shall surely be of the thankful. 189 But when they were given a healthy son, they started ascribing to other powers a share in what God had bestowed on them. But God is above what they ascribe to Him. 190 Do they (the disbelievers) ascribe (false deities) that which do not create anything, but are themselves created? 191 And the false deities are unable to [give] them help, nor can they help themselves. 192 And if you call the disbelievers to guidance, they do not follow you; it is the same for you, whether you invite them or remain silent. 193 Verily, all those whom you invoke beside God are but created beings like yourselves: invoke them, then, and let them answer your prayer - if what you claim is true! 194 Have they feet wherewith they wend? Have they hands wherewith they grip? Have they eyes wherewith they see? Have they ears wherewith they hearken? Say thou: call upon your associate gods, and then plot against me and respite me not. 195 My protector is God who sent down the Book, for it is He who protects the righteous. 196 "And those whom you call upon besides Him (Allah) cannot help you nor can they help themselves." 197 And if you call them to guidance they do not listen; and you (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) observe them looking towards you, whereas they do not perceive anything. 198 MAKE due allowance for man's nature, and enjoin the doing of what is right; and leave alone all those who choose to remain ignorant. 199 And if a false imputation from the Shaitan afflict you, seek refuge in Allah; surely He is Hearing, Knowing. 200 Indeed, when a visitation of satan touches the cautious (worshipers) they remember, and then see clearly. 201 But their brethren (the evil ones) plunge them deeper into error, and never relax (their efforts). 202 And whenever thou bringest not unto them, as a sign, they say: wherefore hast not thou selected it? Say thou: I only follow that which hath been revealed unto me by my Lord. This is an enlightenment from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy unto a people who believe. 203 When the Quran is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace, so that you may receive mercy. 204 And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear without loudness in words in the mornings, and in the afternoons and be not of those who are neglectful. 205 [The angels] who are near to Your Lord, never turn away from His service out of arrogance; they rather glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
