And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
