۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 What then, shall we not die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
