Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman. 29 Or do they say, 'He is a poet for whom we await Fate's uncertainty'? 30 Say: 'Await! I shall be awaiting with you.' 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe. 33 Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. 34 Or were they created of themselves? Or are they the creators? 35 Or is it they who created the heavens and the earth? No; the truth is that they lack sure faith. 36 Or do they have the treasures of your Lord, or are they the authority? 37 Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense? 40 Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down? 41 Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger)? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared! 42 Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols. 43 And if they should see a portion of the heaven coming down, they would say: Piled up clouds. 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),- 45 and when their evil plans will be of no benefit to them nor will they be helped. 46 But, verily, for those who are bent on doing evil, there is suffering in store [even] closer at hand than that [supreme suffering in the hereafter]: but most of them are not aware of it. 47 And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise, 48 and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars. 49
