The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
