The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, heights ultimate of evolution, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
