The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a mighty day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
