[AND the tribe of] Ad gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 gardens and fountains. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
