Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in Thamud's also was a lesson, when it was said unto them: enjoy yourselves for a season. 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
