The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they differ? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
