Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 We destroyed the strongest among them in power. The stories of the ancient people have already been mentioned. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 It is He who has sent down water from the sky in a known measure by which He has given life to the dead earth. In the same way will you also be resurrected. 11 He Who created these pairs, all of them, and provided you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
