Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman. 29 Or do they say: "[He is but] a poet - let us wait what time will do unto him"? 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 Do they say: “He has himself fabricated the Qur'an?” No; the truth is that they are altogether averse to believing. 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators? 35 Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. 36 Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 37 Have they a stairway whereby they overhear? Then let their listener bring an authority manifest. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them, so they are burdened with the penalty? 40 Or that the Ghaib (unseen) is with them, and they write it down? 41 Or, do they desire to outwit? The unbelievers are the outwitted. 42 Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols. 43 And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up." 44 So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 For the harmdoers there is indeed, a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane. 49
