The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
