The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
