۞ He it is Who did create you from a single soul, and therefrom did make his mate that he might take rest in her. And when he covered her she bore a light burden, and she passed (unnoticed) with it, but when it became heavy they cried unto Allah, their Lord, saying: If thou givest unto us aright we shall be of the thankful. 189 But when He gave unto them aright, they ascribed unto Him partners in respect of that which He had given them. High is He Exalted above all that they associate (with Him). 190 What, do they associate that which creates nothing and themselves are created, 191 and that have no power to help them, neither they help themselves? 192 And if ye call them to the Guidance, they follow you not. Whether ye call them or are silent is all one for you. 193 Verily, all those whom you invoke beside God are but created beings like yourselves: invoke them, then, and let them answer your prayer - if what you claim is true! 194 Do they have feet to walk on, or hands to hold with, or eyes to see and ears to hear with? Say to them: "Call your compeers, and work out a plot against me, and do not give me time. 195 Verily my protector is Allah who hath revealed the Book, and He protecteth the righteous. 196 While those you beseech apart from Him cannot help you or even help themselves. 197 And if you invite them to guidance, they do not hear; and you see them looking at you while they do not see. 198 Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant. 199 When satan provokes you seek refuge in Allah; He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 200 Those who fear Allah, when a thought of evil from Satan assaults them, bring Allah to remembrance, when lo! they see (aright)! 201 But (as for) their brothers (the devils) they (i.e. the devils) plunge them deeper into error, and they never stop short. 202 And if you do not bring them a miracle [according to their (i.e. Quraish-pagans') proposal], they say: "Why have you not brought it?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (the Quran) is nothing but evidences from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe." 203 Whenever the Quran is recited (to you), listen to it quietly so that you may receive mercy. 204 And do thou (O Muhammad) remember thy Lord within thyself humbly and with awe, below thy breath, at morn and evening. And be not thou of the neglectful. 205 Surely, those who are with your Lord (angels) are never too proud to perform acts of worship to Him, but they glorify His Praise and prostrate before Him. ۩ 206
