And assuredly Harun had said unto them afore: O my people! ye are only being tempted thereby; and verily your Lord is the Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command. 90 They replied, "We shall not cease to worship it until Moses returns to us." 91 (After rebuking his people) Moses turned to Aaron and said: "Aaron! What prevented you, when you saw them going astray, 92 “That you did not come after me? So did you disobey my order?” 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 Moses asked, "Samiri, what were your motives?" 95 He answered: "I have gained insight into something which they were unable to see: and so I took hold of a handful of the Apostle's teachings and cast it away: for thus has my mind prompted me [to act]." 96 Moses said, "Begone! It shall be your lot to say throughout your life, "Do not touch me," and you will be faced with a fate from which there will be no escape. Now look at your deity to which you have become so devoted: we shall burn it up, and then scatter it into the sea. 97 Your God is none else than Allah, beside Whom there is no god. His knowledge embraces everything." 98 Thus We relate to you (O Muhammad SAW) some information of what happened before. And indeed We have given you from Us a Reminder (this Quran). 99 Whoever turns away from it will bear a heavy burden on the Day of Judgement, 100 therein abiding forever; how evil upon the Day of Resurrection that burden for them! 101 On the day when the trumpet shall be blown, and We will gather the guilty, blue-eyed, on that day 102 They shall consult together secretly: You did tarry but ten (centuries). 103 We know well what they will say. The most just among them in the matter will declare: 'You have stayed away but one day' 104
