The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 160 When their brother Lout (Lot) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 My Lord! deliver me and my followers from what they do. 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 175
