And recall what time Ibrahim said unto his father and his people: verily I am quit of that which ye worship. 26 except Him who originated me, for He will guide me' 27 And he made it a word enduring among his posterity; haply so they would return. 28 I gave them and their fathers days of enjoyment until the truth and a clear Messenger came to them. 29 And when there came to them the truth they said: This is magic, and surely we are disbelievers in it. 30 And they say: If only this Qur'an had been revealed to some great man of the two towns? 31 Is it they who apportion the mercy of your Lord? It is We who distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and raise some of them above others in rank, so that they may take one another into service; and the mercy of your Lord is better than [the wealth] which they amass. 32 Were it not for the fear that all people would become one in disbelief, We would have made for the disbelievers in the Beneficent God ceilings out of silver and ladders by which they would climb up, 33 And silver doors for their houses, and silver couches whereon they recline, 34 And diverse adornments; and all this is usage only of the life of this world; and the Hereafter with your Lord, is for the pious. 35
