The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. THESE ARE MESSAGES of revelation - of a discourse clear in itself and clearly showing the truth. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Let them eat and enjoy; and let their hopes deceive them, soon they shall know. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 And yet, they [who deny the truth] say: "O thou unto whom this reminder has [allegedly] been bestowed from on high: verily, thou art mad! 6 "Why bringest thou not angels to us if it be that thou hast the Truth?" 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption). 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 Thus do We let it (polytheism and disbelief) enter into the hearts of the Mujrimun [criminals, polytheists, pagans, etc. (because of their mockery at the Messengers)]. 12 They do not believe in him, and the tradition of earlier nations has passed. 13 Yet even had We opened to them a gateway to heaven and they had ascended, on and on, up to it, 14 They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic." 15
