And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God? 11 He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood: 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 He said: by no means. So go ye twain with Our signs; verily We shall be with you listening. 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 (Pharaoh) said (unto Moses): Did we not rear thee among us as a child? And thou didst dwell many years of thy life among us, 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.' 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' 28 Pharaoh said, "If you take any deity other than myself, I will throw you into prison," 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 Then he cast down his staff, and lo! it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders. 33
