Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
