The dwellers of the forest also rejected the Messengers. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 weigh with an even balance 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They said, "You are no more than a bewitched and insane man 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 He said: My Lord knows best what you do. 188 They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
