And a sign for them is the dead land. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof. 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 so that they may eat of the fruit thereof, though it was not their hands that made it. Will they not, then, be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him, who created all the pairs of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they know not. 36 And [of Our sway over all that exists] they have a sign in the night: We withdraw from it the [light of] day - and lo! they are in darkness. 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 And (as for) the moon, We have ordained for it stages till it becomes again as an old dry palm branch. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark (of Noah). 41 and [that] We create for them things of a similar kind, on which they may embark [in their travels]; 42 We drown them if We will, then they have none to cry to, nor can they be saved, 43 Unless by Our benevolence, to reap advantage for a time. 44 When it is said unto them: Beware of that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy (they are heedless). 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 And they say: when will this promise be fulfilled if ye say sooth? 48 They wait not for aught but a single cry which will overtake them while they yet contend with one another. 49 And they will not be able to make a disposition, nor to their family they return. 50
