The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
