The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
