The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO witness those who stand arrayed in rows, 1 and the scarers scaring 2 And by oath of the groups that read the Qur’an. 3 surely your God is One, 4 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of whatever lies between the two, the Lord of the Easts. 5 Behold, We have adorned the skies nearest to the earth with the beauty of stars, 6 and to preserve against every rebel Satan; 7 they cannot overhear the Higher Assembly for they are pelted from every side, 8 And kept far away. There is perpetual punishment for them, 9 But if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge], he shall be pursued by a piercing flame. 10 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Are they stronger in constitution, or those We created? We created them of clinging clay. 11 But you wonder, while they mock, 12 And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,- 13 And when they behold a sign, they turn to scoffing. 14 And they say: Lo! this is mere magic; 15 “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we certainly be raised again?” 16 What, and our forefathers, the ancients' 17 Say: 'Yes, and in all lowliness.' 18 It will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e. the second blowing of the Trumpet)], and behold, they will be staring! 19 They will then say: “Woe for us. This is the Day of Judgement.” 20 [And they will be told:] "This is the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false - the Day] which you were wont to call a lie!" 21
