The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
