He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and purified. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Not one - he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
