The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are united, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
