Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 To a happy state shall indeed attain he who causes this [self] to grow in purity, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 In response they belied him, and hamstrung the she camel – so Allah put ruin over them because of their sins and flattened their dwellings. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
